The emergence of the Safavids is considered one of the most significant events and a turning point in the history of Shiism and Iran. The Safavids succeeded in establishing the first powerful national Shiite state in Iran. The establishment of this Shiite and national state provoked reactions from internal opponents and external enemies. This research, while analyzing the military tactics of that era, especially during the reign of Shah Abbas I, examines the role of Shiite religious factors as an effective complement in transforming traditional military patterns into a combined religious-military model. The main question of this research is: What religious functions did the Safavid kings, particularly Shah Abbas I, utilize in appropriately employing military capacities? This research falls under historical research, which, given the nature of the subject, is descriptive-analytical. The findings indicate that Shah Abbas I, alongside combat tactics, employed soft tactics in the form of instilling a sense of righteousness, dominating the enemy's psychological space, utilizing Shiite symbols and rituals, and arousing religious sentiments and motivations in the process of military affairs. By examining the history of military wars in the Safavid era, the significant role and profound impact of spirituality and Shiite symbols and rituals on the military successes of the Safavid army is clearly observable.
